A truly spectacular final concert for this great series of Music For You! at St David's Hall featuring four orchestral showstoppers opening with Rossini's ever popular William Tell Overture.
This is followed by Leonard Bernstein's highly energised dance score from one of the greatest of all stage and film musicals, West Side Story, including Somewhere, Cool and the fantastic Mambo.
Shostakovich's Jazz Suite is more music hall than jazz and is packed with great tunes, the kind you'll be singing for days afterwards!
If the legendary film director Cecil B de Mille had been a composer, The Pines of Rome might well have been the sort of piece he's have written! Respighi's stunning technicolour work, scored for huge orchestra, with its vivid musical pictures of the history of Rome, provides a stunning conclusion.
